WANT AD

Desperately seeking                                                                   d'Verse Poets Pub
someone to love
someone to hate
a reason to humiliate

Desperately seeking
to find some direction
to make a connection
to feel your rejection

Desperately seeking
a Ginsu knife
the meaning of life
somebody's wife

Desperately seeking
my moment of fame
where to lay the blame
and end to this shame

Desperately seeking
a shot at the top
some wings when I drop
back into the slop

Desperately seeking
Susan
Fernando
Willy
and Betty Jean
a place to lie down
and a chance to come clean

Desperately seeking
to find a new game
like ants a a picnic
where nobody came

  2. A creative take on that want ad...I think we all seeking for that "face" to accept us or for a chance to come clean ~

  3. Timoteo, so sweet! This makes me want to write one too. I just might! (Is that all it takes?)I have been interviewing so many happily married poets that I am beginning to think only Sylvia Plath and I were cursed! Hee hee. Hang in there. You are wonderful, and someone will find you. I just hope she is worthy of you!

  4. MADELINE,
    Thanks for visiting.

    HEAVEN,
I did take a shower today, so that's part of the battle right there.

    SHERRY,
That is just about the nicest thing anyone ever said to me. Except when Barbara Jo Wilkerson exclaimed: "A PAJAMA PARTY? OH HOW FUN!"
Hang in there yourself, my dear, and don't get too curious about ovens!

  5. "where nobody came." Jeez, that breaks my heart. I'll stay clear of the oven, as well. : {

  6. Desperation is never a pretty sight, my friend--I'm liking the next to last stanza best here, but its all good. If only the real 'ads' were half this honest.

  7. dang...that last stanza touched me most..sums it up for me...all that we want and seek and in the end...

  8. really a nice song-like quality to it. I try to incorporate music into my work quite a bit and appreciate it when I can find a sense of music in another writers work. Really nice job and strong ending here. Thanks

  9. There's a lovely upbeat rhythm to this piece which contrasts wonderfully with the subject matter.

I really enjoyed reading this - and although happily married, I can remember when I wasn't and no-one seemed to notice me.

Thanks for your input on this. I'm not sure anyone would really want ALL of these things, but it would be an interesting assemblage--kinda like the Twelve Days of Xmas!

  11. Really enjoyed this, especially:

    Desperately seeking
    a shot at the top
    some wings when I drop
    back into the slop

  12. __Ahhh yes, if no one comes to the picnic they will never find what they desperately seek. To and from, ants on the endlessly recirculating pathway.

    to and fro
    ants on this barren ground
    New York taxies

What is bleak and barren to some... is not, to others; some are Desperately Seeking Sanity.

  13. LAURIE,
Thanks...dropping into the slop no fun.

    MAGYAR,
That's a great haiku--all depends on your perspective and your view, eh? I've essentially given up on the sanity--prefer to write poetry instead.

  16. You made me think how much more interesting "want" ads could be if people penned the truth, Tim.

Hope you get whatever it is you want and if you go on a picnic you get there long before the ants show up! :)

  21. I think we're all kinda seeking that. Especially the Ginsu knife. Everyone wants a Ginsu knife, right? This reads like a dream. And, I hope you find what you're desperately seeking :o)
