DAYDREAM ON AISLE # 7

If you eat a doughnut
then eat it whole
if you leave a fragment
of a doughnut
then it's got no hole
it's no longer whole
it's got no soul

but I've been saved from

The Hunger
and that's what true salvation
means
the cravings for an
other
and then another
and another

there's enough sweetness in

the smile of a stranger
with her cart in the super mart
as you glide toward and then
past one another

you let your imagination
out to play for a minute
creating a scenario where
you remark that she has bought
the same kosher dills as you
and then it would begin
but
that could lead you
down the aisle

the wrong one

when you know that you can satisfy

those cravings well enough now
without the necessity
of making Mistake Number Three

so you tuck that daydream away

and glide on over to
the doughnut aisle
add to cart
proceed to checkout
and wave goodbye
Boy George's plaintive voice
echoing sweetly in your ears

  1. So no more trips down the aisle for you then...they say third time lucky :)

  2. Some aisle are just to stormy to walk.

Also, the touch of doughnut existentialism made me grin.

    1. I love "doughnut existentialism" which you just coined. I know it will come in handy when I write my philosophy book :)

    1. Knowing when to quit is an insight that, unfortunately, many others don't have :)

  4. A wise choice indeed!
BTW, had problems here, your blog jumping all over the place - but maybe the problem's mine...

    1. It is a problem with my blog. Others have reported it also. I've tried to troubleshoot it but am out of my depth at following some of the "fixes" you will find online. It may be that I'll have to pay the local computer geek service to come out. They are expensive. So I'll keep looking into it for now. I have noticed that if you use the little right hand sidebar to scroll, it works better than trying to use the down arrow on your keyboard. But you have to play with it a bit.

    1. Well then, they definitely should be kept on a leash.

    1. Yes, and I stay away from them, except in moments of extreme weakness.

  7. Off topic...I'm reading back through this site's archives and wondering about the "Parking for Portuguese Only" sign. Is that the name of a business? Parking for employees of the Portuguese Cafe?
