WHEN YUKIMI SINGS

Don't sum up your life
by the awards you've collected
nobody gives a crap
'bout that but you.

Or your service to the war machine.

U can only be proud of that if

U didn't snuff out the flame
of a slanty-eyed someone you've
never spoken to and never
given it a second thought
cuz U did your duty by God and country.

And when Yukimi comes gyrating onto

the stage to do the vocal for "Empire Ants"
it's already the middle of the song
and the crowd goes nuts in frenzied
anticipation with a thousand flames
held high cuz they know it's about
to kick into another gear.
And then that beat engulfs you
 like a big Asian tsunami
and just sweeps U right you away.

So let's say that U also dug

Gorillaz--then there'd be some hope
that you and I
could engage eye to eye
and I to I
 and lo and behold
there might be mutual understanding
no matter who or what we are.

It could be just that easy.

    2. Sure, let's do it. Okay, taking care of one person per day and there is 8 billion of us … would "only" take 4 years 24/7 to help everybody … 8 billion divided by 365 = 21917808.2192 people … 21917808.2192 divided by 365 = 60048.7896416 people … 60048.7896416 divided by 365 =
      164.517231895 people … 164.5172318595 divided by 365 = 0.45073214217 people … Oops. Now what? Hmmm? Love, cat.

  2. That easy... seeing something else than the slant of an eye should be easy I thought... but it seems it is not.

Maybe it's easier to be servants of war.

    1. Thanks for that. It is too easy, when one is disconnected from his CONSCIENCE.

  3. I so agree with your comment about those disconnected from consciences, an affliction in these times, it appears. I appreciat the message in this poem, Timo. It should be far easier than it is, to simply live and allow others the same privilege. Sigh.

    1. Thanks so much, Sherry. The message may be blunt in this one, but I'm usually too subtle anyway--lol

  6. "cuz U did your duty by God and country": Such is the terrible state of affairs. The war machinery keeps on running.

    1. Yes....war is just the normal state of affairs for us now. But they're not really wars in the traditional sense, just providing military might to help prop up whatever government is in power in what we deem as key strategic locations.

  7. Yeah, it could be that easy if we dropped our pretentions and pretending. I liked this poem a lot. Not subtle at all, thank goodness.

    1. Much appreciated, Toni. I hope everyone looks at the video because it's what much of the poem is about.

  9. We are all just pawns, cannon fodder being the old name; to fight evil mens' wars because there is profit to be made but not by us.
