CLOSE TO THE VEST

When I turn back around
I catch you staring at me
like you're trying to see
right through me
like there's something
you're looking for
that I'm not showing
but damned if I know
what that would be

 trust me
there is nothing

so move along please
nothing to see here

nothing to see at all

  3. So I'm trying to imagine if the picture above it suppose to recommend this poem as a parlor trick of magic, or if it is about waiting for the write hand to be dealt. I'm personally going with the second one.

    1. Thanks for letting me know. Now that I think about it, I've been meaning to tell you about that bird poop in your hair.

  12. Amen. And if there was something--not saying there is, mind you--those types would miss it anyway. Great wrap on that feeling of alienation, and the distance we defensively assume in a weird world that won't leave us alone, even as it obviously wants nothing to do with us. Or so I paranoidly read, Timo.

    1. It's when someone looks at you in that way that says they can't figure you out. They don't understand that you may still be trying to figure it out yourself.
