OTHERWISE

Don't stop
what you're doing
don't cancel
the ballgame
don't shut
the whole damn city down
don't say none of it's
important
in light of...
it's all important
it's your LIFE
sure it sounds bizarre
but now you see
we've got to factor it in
as crazy as
it would have seemed
in that Leave It To Beaver world
we're no longer immune
and we've got to factor it in
as others
speaking other tongues
have done
as a fact
Jack
that' all
it's the fact
Jack
and sure it sounds
preposterous
when you still
haven't  grasped
that on this plane
we're all insane
always have been
it's just that we
factored it in
goes on everyday
on a smaller scale
but you think that's okay
long as it stays
in THAT part of town
cuz you've factored it in
and gone about your business
so now's the time
to go about our business
the business of living
it's called
and just get on with it
singin'
shoutin'
heads held high
just get on with it

play the game

otherwise they've won

  1. yes, getting real, i couldn't agree more, Tim. we've "factored this in" in so many other arenas, now to factor it in here and keep on going. the sun is shining, let's go with that. batterup!

This is social commentary at its best! You have encapsulated much of the past days, filled with death by design, accident or coincidental. So long as we keep factoring it all in, we can sleep nights.

  5. It's really sad that we have to "factor it in". But this we must ,,,, well said,,,

  6. HELEN: Much appreciated!

KERRY: It's curious how we keep modifying and moving that line in the sand of what we will accept...especially when there is no other choice.

McGUFFY ANN: Happy to see you here!

LOREDANA: Thanks...only thing is, some appear unable to grasp that concept, and would rather run around crying THE SKY IS FALLING!

    ELLECEE: True.

  7. Yes, the world has changed and we won't go on as before, but we must go on. I don't think we are all insane - that seems to come from anger, perhaps? "They" ends up being an American terrorist who just had his miranda rights read to him...

  8. The sky will fall soon enough ... so far there is a lot of catnip to chose from ... I'll stick with yours, Timo ... always, cat.

  9. MARGARET: Doesn't come from anger, just observation. (And thanks for your comment.) I see things that many of us seem to take for granted as just being the way things are...so we accept them. Whether you are talking about factory farming, or the state sponsored brainwashing of young people who are then given a weapon, pointed in a certain direction, and instructed to kill on command--we have given our tacit approval. To me, love and sanity are synonymous, so in the absence of love...what have you got? The truly insane never believe that they are. But if we step back and take a sober, critical look at ourselves, how could we be anything but?

CAT: Ready to light up some of that catnip?

  11. true in that they win when we let life stop because of what they have done...it was great to see the singing of the national anthem at the bruins game and everyone drowning out the singer....

  17. Interesting perspective...still, I'm glad they shut down the city and caught the guys! As for living - yes, by all means, we must keep going and never let them see us sweat!
