FLASH FICTION (tasty morsels of profundity)

The Ninety-Nine Cent Store was
doing a brisk business... until the
Ninety-Eight Cent Store moved
in across the street. The owner
hung his head and wept. "Why
didn't WE think of that?" he sobbed.

  3. This for some reason reminds of the tailor who set out to be best -- he named his store, 'the best in the city'; another one came named his 'the best in state', next came 'the best in the country'...in the world..in the planet, in the universe...so it went.

Until the last one came -- 'best in the street' :)

Moral -- "Thinking" should never end?

Now, I'm 'think'ing of the captilised "WE" here, Tim :)

  4. Haha, all the adverts on your page are now for 99-cent stores!

I admit to furnishing my apartment in France at the €2 store. Alas, they had no €1 store that I could find.

  6. THANKS ERIC, SHERRY, KKRIGE, CINDY, DEVIKA, KOBICO, LORRAINE!

    DEVIKA,
I love those "we're the best" commercials. Oh yeah? Who said so? Normally, it's just WE said so...lol. And anybody can undercut anybody else price wise, but the question is, will they make a profit?

    KOBICO,

My place is furnished in "thrift store chic."

  7. __I see here, that like me, no one believes in advertising claims.
__Sometimes... the Looser wins. Wasn't there once something entiteled, "The 'WORST' Whore House in Texas" ?

  8. Tim, i'm with the ones who think profit is not just about money. I think you would agree too....But yes, WE could be wrong, from the other point of view :)

  9. MAGYAR,
I don't remember the worst whore house in Texas (but then, I had too much to drink...lol!) There WAS a musical called "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas"...I don't know if they took a poll of satisfied customers or what.

    DEVIKA,

If EVERYBODY in business is the best in their field, (as they claim)isn't that a mathematical impossibility?

  10. :)

"As they claim" -- i think we got the key for possibilities and probabilities there, as you suggest in the question itself, Tim :)

Our senses are still working, though it is often in the realms of nonsense, i guess :)
