LOVE POEM

Always hated fukken Valentine's Day
cuz you had to git all dressed up
and show up wit a box of chocolates
under youse arm and
take her out to dinner
and da whole bit
when what you really wanted to do
was stay home and watch da basketball game
in your skivvies
and to make matters worse
a couple weeks later
she ain't even wit you no mo!!!
what kinda deal is dat?

think I got out just in time man
what wit dis war between da sexes
dat's raging today
HEY
I ain't gonna study war no more
so why would I need
some old battle-axe around???

now I be watchin' da game
and poppin' dem yummy chocolates
into my own face
finally catchin' on
finally wakin' up
to da realization
at long long last
just how sweet life can be...

when I'm in love wit me

  6. Loved it. I got married so I wouldn't pine each year 'cos I hadn't received any Valentine cards. Then I got one every year after that but dunno who it was from!

Do one's own thing and not a bother from anyone. Freedom to enjoy all the more. Very true Timoteo!

  9. I don't care a fig or feather for chocolates and hearts. I'd rather watch a game than slip through syrup. I guess that is why I've been married 47 years. :)

  10. Lol......i love it. I, too, love doing my own thing. Valentines' day's dark side is the theme at Toads. This poem certainly fits.

    1. Thanks, Sherry. Me and Darth...we're both from the dark side. In fact, he is my FATHER!

    1. So true, Rommy. I'd only be apologizing to myself anyway, and myself doesn't care who I am :)

  12. I knew you would have a nice twist in the end! Chocolates and your favorite tv show... not a bad way to spend the evening.

  19. I can't even treat myself to valentine chocolate...It doesn't play well with my stomach. I've never been one to give much attention to Valentine's Day..give me something on an off Tuesday and we'll talk. :)

  20. I loved the close - it made me laugh - and of course all your words that went before.
Cheers for bringing a smile to my face.

    1. Thanks. When all the rest of them run away, we can still wrap our arms around our own shoulders.
