ANOTHER DAY

I snake through these streets
at dawn
oxygen is brain food

come back
hoist the weights
do my Falun Dafa

still only 8 o'clock
the day lying in wait for me
like Apollo Creed
mocking
chanting
you got anything else, suckah?

the story of my life

am I Rocky
or just another bum?

dunno...
but I'll go down swingin'
either way

so cue the music
I'm about to hit the streets again
little kids
and dogs who want a piece of me
tagging behind

I move twice as fast
when I hear a siren in the background
a conditioned reflex
from the teenage years

seizing the day
before some body part
seizes up

fightin' the good fight
and Apollo is wrong
cuz I ain't goin' down...

at least not today

  1. Yeah, that's the attitude. I can hear the music key up and love the photo accompaniment.

    1. I imagine others will look it up too. I hope they will look into it on more than a surface level.

  3. I so relate to seizing the day before some body part seizes up. LOL. I am so there! Hobbling off as we speak.........

  4. I had to look up falun dafa too. Love the idea of self-cultivation. I think we could all use a good dose of that.

  6. the "I move twice as fast" is a great line - and this really is inspirational - I keep setting my alarm for 6:30 but keep hitting snooze... ;P

  7. Love this, Timo. I always, always feel better when I get up and get moving in the morning. (I'll skip those raw eggs, though...) Keep it moving!
