ANTI-SOCIAL MEDIA
I got myself a tribe
their wordless tongues
don't have to wangle
only nimble fingers
flying over a keyboard
My foolscap is a monitor
for monitoring fools
determined to give the Big Lie
just one more try
as tribal warfare
spills across the screen
A manhole cover
on my head
to brace
for the incoming
a hail of toads
wet-stained and sweating rain
as life is cheap as dirt
in cyber land
but the truth
now that'll cost ya

This speaks volumes...lol. The best kind of social media is the one where you can count your friends on your hands and toes...Awesome!
ReplyDeleteStill counting on my hands...haven't gotten to my toes yet!
DeleteHa.. sometimes we actually believe that virtual is real... but then the power is cut and you know
ReplyDeleteOMG--what you said, I want to steal it and use it in a poem, if you don't mind!
DeleteI love that incoming rain of toads! LOL. And the manhole cover for protection. Loved it, Tim.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry. Always nice to hear from you.
DeleteMe thinks you would be a force to reckon with in the cyber world!💞
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sanaa. I mostly just ignore all the craziness now.
DeleteLove it. Some people are so busy on social media they forget to live their real lives.
ReplyDeleteGracias, KB. For some, unfortunately, that is their real life.
DeleteAwesome post, friend Tim … Always good to be social in person with your social contacts before it becomes an anti social none stick/ anti social too sticky mess, eh? Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteRight. We gotta stick together--lol
ReplyDelete__ In that cyber land, if we take a "selfie" with our cell phone, shouldn't that "selfie" then be spelled as... "cellfie" ? I wonder.
ReplyDeleteThat's punny, my friend!
DeleteLife is cheap everywhere . We live in an awful world. Best to take refuge in lovely simple things, lock out negative people and if you are lucky you might find like minded souls who understand you.
ReplyDeleteLike-minded souls...that's your tribe, and we need to take time to smear paint on each other!
DeleteOur world loves darkness it seems. I will spend moments contemplating a flower petal, to let its beauty and scent carry me out of the pit the world tries to sink me in.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to contemplate things...I'm still fascinated with my belly button!
DeleteThe hail of toads continues. Plop!
