One day Bryan woke
To the realization
That everything around him--
All the scenery
And the scenes
He previously thought
He was moving through
Were actually in motion themselves
And he was standing still.
Walking in place.
Bryan said to his imaginary friend
Hazel
"Sometimes the most obvious things
we never take notice of."
Hazel said, well, it's all a show
Bryan
Designed specifically for you.
Enjoy the show, she said--
Enjoy the show.
And then she began to remove her clothes.

DeleteHi Tim!
ReplyDeleteI must say, you had me up to the very last line - when surreal met very real.
Thanks, and great to see you, Kerry!
DeleteOne gets all sensuous when imagery runs wild. It is good sometimes to be in such a predicament. Great lines Tim!
ReplyDeleteHank
Thanks Hank. Who's to say what is real...and what is an illusion?
DeleteAnd it all works together to teach us, help us evolve.
ReplyDeleteI just hope we're on an upward path, and not a downward one, Kim!
DeleteWell played.
ReplyDeleteAre we awake or only dreaming?
In the highest sense, it is a dream, but, like a great novel or film, we buy into it with our "willing suspension of disbelief."
Delete... sometimes, regurgitation is not so bad ... my heart does it all the time ... meow ...

Thanks so much, Stacy!
DeleteLike they say, the show must go on, right? I think the sooner we realize we're the sucker that's (re-)born every minute, things get to be a bit less...pressured. I like the way you've structured this as a dialogue.
ReplyDeleteOoh, let's get to our seats...the curtain is rising!
